Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we are saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. (Rom 8:23-25)
Do you ever feel a deep unidentifiable desire in times of solitude and wonder what would ever fulfill that longing? How do you describe the source of that longing?
What kinds of things do you try to fill that longing with?
Father in heaven, thank you for creating a longing for you deep in my soul. I pray, Lord, for your reminder that only you can fill it and you have promised that the day is coming when I will be whole. In the meantime, please help me to hold onto the hope you have given and recognize when I am seeking to fulfill my deep desire with things that will not satisfy me. Fill my mind with your thoughts and your desires and help me walk in patience and confidence.
