I will call with all my heart; answer me, LORD, and I will obey your decrees. I call out to you; save me and I will keep your statutes. I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word. (Ps 119:145-147)
When was the last time you called out to God with all your heart? What was God’s response to you?
What promises in God’s word have you placed your hope in?
Father, temptation threatens to overtake me. When I least expect it and am least capable of resisting, it is there, the seduction to go my own way, to be my own king, to turn away from you. It is that I doubt your promises and your goodness. Something in me is unsure you have my best in mind. All of this comes in a moment when I’m alone or afraid or threatened or disconnected. My only hope is to call out to you in the midst of this rebellion. Keep me close, Lord, so I remember to cry for help and rely on the truth of your word. You are love and you are good. You are merciful and you are mighty.
