The Care Center is pleased to offer FREE income tax preparation services. The Care Center is a certified IRS VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) site.

This service to help low and moderate income individuals and families, whose income is at or below $75,000, have their federal and state tax returns prepared and filed electronically at no cost. Our goal is to help our guests by providing professional services that will help them save money.

The only state income tax return we can complete is for Illinois.

Beginning Friday, February 1 through Monday, April 8, we will be providing tax preparation services on a first come, first served basis at the Care Center. 

Numbers will be distributed one hour before the start time of each session. Early closure may occur if we reach capacity. We look forward to serving you through tax season!

Some restrictions to receiving this service may apply. Please click HERE to read about the restrictions. 

Guests should bring the following items that apply to their tax appointment:

  1. A valid ID for you and your spouse (if filing jointly, husband and wife must be present).
  2. Social Security cards for Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN) for all family members.
  3. A copy of last year's federal and state income tax return.
  4. All w-2 forms.
  5. All 1099 forms (unemployment benefits, Social Security income, etc.).
  6. Health Insurance ID cards for all taxpayers and dependents listed on the tax return.
    1. Any 1095A form issued by the Health Insurance Marketplace if health insurance was purchased via the Health Insurance Exchange.
    2. Any 1095B issued by your employer for your health coverage.
    3. Any 1095C issued by a health insurance provider.
  7. Mortgage interest and real estate taxes paid statement.
  8. Medical expenses paid and health insurance premiums paid.
  9. Charitable contributions.
  10. Daycare expenses statement.
  11. Form 1098T and all college tuition and student loan statements.
  12. If direct deposit of return amount is desire, bring a blank check.

Saturday 9:00 a.m-12 p.m; 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m.
