Community Resource Days Update

Community Resource Days has been a meaningful part of serving our local community—creating a space where guests can access resources, build relationships, and be known. We’re grateful for everyone who has been part of that story.

As we look ahead, we’re taking time to strengthen and refocus this ministry so we can serve our community even more effectively.

Summer Pause

Community Resource Days at the Crystal Lake campus will be paused for the summer. Our last day welcoming guests before the pause will be Friday, May 22.

Why the Pause?

Over time, Community Resource Days has grown and changed. This pause gives us the opportunity to evaluate what’s working, improve our spaces and systems, and better align our services with the needs of our community. Our goal is to create an environment that is safe, welcoming, and sustainable—while helping more people access meaningful support.

What’s Happening Next?

Throughout the summer, we’ll be:

  • Enhancing and updating CRD spaces
  • Strengthening programs and partnerships
  • Implementing improved systems and safety practices
  • Expanding efforts to address food insecurity in our community

We’ll also continue working to connect individuals with local organizations and resources that provide ongoing support.

Looking Ahead

We plan to relaunch Community Resource Days in the fall, with more details to come.

We’re grateful for the community that has been built through CRD and look forward to what’s ahead. Our commitment remains the same: to be a place where people are welcomed with dignity, care, and connection.

Circles USA

We are proud to announce our partnership with Circles USA to launch a new Circles chapter right here in McHenry County.

Circles USA is a national nonprofit that has spent more than 25 years helping communities build lasting pathways out of poverty. Their proven model closes the gap between short-term crisis help and long-term economic self-sufficiency. By engaging community members as intentional allies and advocates, Circles USA fosters relationships that empower individuals and families to rise out of poverty—permanently.

As a new local chapter, Circles McHenry will bring together people from all backgrounds—community volunteers, faith leaders, service providers, and those seeking to change their circumstances—to walk alongside one another in a powerful journey of transformation. Together, we’ll work to break down the systemic barriers that keep people stuck and equip families with the support and resources needed to thrive.

This initiative is about more than charity. It’s about connection, dignity, and sustainable change—for individuals, families, and our whole community.
