Join our team of gleaners, who pick up donations from local grocery stores to help stock the Care Center.
Are you looking for an opportunity to serve, but would prefer to be more behind-the-scenes? Our Gleaning Team could be the perfect fit!
Each week, our team of gleaners picks up donations from different stores to be used to help stock our Care Center store for our guests. We have two Truck fleet vehicles that go out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to pick up from local partners such as Jewel, Aldi, Marianos and Gordon foods. We also have Car Gleaners who use their own vehicles to pick up the smaller donations.
You do not need a CDL to operate our trucks and do not have to drive if you are not comfortable. We always have two people partnered up making the pickups – one person driving and one riding along (unless you use a personal vehicle). Some heavy lifting is required and training is provided.
Gleaning is a fun area to serve in, and is a great way to develop community and fellowship.
